A crew will be starting the removal of the debris from the Barnes Hotel fire the first week of November.
Also, the old Certified Gas Station will be razed and concrete and asphalt and miscellaneous debris removed by end of this month. The property is leased by the Paulding Chamber of Commerce that is constructing a green space park on the site.
With the clean up of these two sites we now have another site that needs immediate attention. The site of the old Paulding Putman Electric facility is now a blight on the community. The building was in the process of being torn down to construct a gas station and convenience store when the storm hit several months ago. A portion of the back of the building had been torn down and a pile of building material is piled up in the front of the building along the road. This situation is not acceptable. Sufficient time has elapsed for insurance claims to be made. This situation has become a public nuisance and is demoralizing to the adjacent property owners and the general public. This is another one those situations that also effect property values in the area. There are ordinances to deal with this situation and should be enforced immediately. Action is needed now. Ask your councilman to act on this now.
