Good Morning

What’s on your mind this A.M. I am thinking about Spring – wishing it would get here soon!

A new owner for the old jail

The county commissioners have voted to award a bid to sell the jail! So it appears that the historic landmark, built in 1876, will be saved from the wrecking ball after all!

Thanks should go to the people who submitted bids and plans, and to those people who let their voices be heard that the building is an important part of our heritage and deserves to remain standing another 137 years. It promises to be a win-win for everyone. This is the kind of outcome that happens when residents can freely express their opinions and public officials are responsive to those concerns and opinions.

BTW, the buyer is All Trades Restoration, which did the beautiful restoration work last year to the courthouse, library, Rip-It-Fit building and Past Time Cafe. All Trades plans to make it their headquarters and restore the building to its original appearance as best they can. This should be a wonderful addition to our town and our county. Congratulations to everyone involved. Let’s welcome this new business that is putting down roots in our Paulding County clay.
